Australian media ‘should be on Australia’s side’ in coronavirus fallout

about 4 years in news

Sky News host Chris Kenny says some Australian media “was clearly” on the side of mining magnate Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest last week when he invited China's consul-general for Victoria to speak at a press conference without warning.

Last week, Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt was allegedly blindsided after the businessman invited China's Consul-General for Victoria, Long Zhou to speak at their joint press conference without prior warning.

Mr Kenny said what was observed was some “extraordinary carrying on” during that press conference.

Twiggy Forrest had “made sure” Australians “got some Chinese propaganda” during the conference, Mr Kenny said.

He said the fallout saw “some media” in Australia being “clearly on Forrest’s side”.

“Look there's no doubt we need our exports to China, and we know WA is the power-house for these exports”.

“But shouldn't the media be on Australia's side?”
