Australia’s lockdown measures ‘have had peripheral impact’ in stemming virus

News Corp Business Columnist Terry McCrann says he would argue "the lockdowns have been very peripheral in the outcomes we've had in Australia" as the coronavirus curve continues to flatten across the country.

"What stopped the virus coming to Australia was stopping the planes flying," Mr McCrann told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

"What the Morrison government did, very early, against the advice of one of these expert groups the, World Health Organisation, (was) to stop the planes and the virus flying out of China".

"Those two things, I think combined to deliver the outcome we've had".

Sky News host Andrew Bolt has been calling for the gradual lifting of strict social distancing restrictions, saying they have had devastating impacts of social and economic impacts within society.
