Two men were arrested shortly after a break-in early Friday at the Canadian Tire on Cedar Hill Road.
Saanich police responded to an alarm about 5:30 a.m. and the property owners were able to give them quick access to surveillance video.
Police noted two suspects with tools and electronics concealed in a bag before they left the store.
As an officer was writing up a report on the crime, he saw two men riding down Shelbourne Street on bicycles and recognized them from the video.
They were arrested and a search of one of their backpacks revealed the stolen items.
“A keen eye and a little luck on being in the right place at the right time certainly helped in this case,” said Saanich police Const. Markus Anastasiades.
Two men, ages 53 and 22 and known for property-crime offences, have been charged with breaking-and-entering.
