Trump’s ‘attack on China’ a sound political strategy

Sky News Foreign Coordinator Brent O’Halloran says “attacking China rightly or wrongly is a politically sound strategy for President Trump” in light of statistics suggesting 66 per cent of Americans distrust the Chinese government.

In his briefing this morning the US president confirmed he’s seen information which suggests the deadly coronavirus came from the Wuhan bio-lab and was looking at possible ways to make China pay for the spread of COVID-19.

However, Mr O’Halloran said the chance of the United States or any nation receiving “reparations” from China was “extremely low”.

Donald Trump has also claimed China would like him to lose November’s presidential election as a Democratic president might abandon the US-China trade war.

China’s foreign ministry hit back on Friday afternoon saying for some time certain US politicians have disregarded the facts, vilified and assaulted China in an attempt to shirk their own responsibility for their incompetence.
