Surviving a trauma can sometimes give us a new, positive perspective

Decades of research have shown that post-traumatic growth can mean increased spirituality, setting of new priorities, a new-found sense of personal strength and of closeness with others. It’s not to say that trauma is good, of course — but if something positive could come out of it, we should certainly try to encourage it.
