MONTREAL — Quebecers will learn today how their government plans to reopen certain parts of the economy that have been shuttered since March.
The recovery strategy for businesses comes a day after Premier Francois Legault announced elementary schools and daycares across the province would be reopened by May 19.
Legault has said the COVID-19 pandemic is under control outside long-term care homes and senior residences, and as long as that continues, the economy should be able to reopen gradually.
The government already relaxed restrictions on some businesses forced to shut down in March.
Those include companies in mining, landscaping and gardening, as well as residential pool centres and car body shops.
Residential construction was allowed to resume April 20, but only on projects that needed to be delivered by July.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published April 28, 2020.
