Police were targeted with fireworks as unrest broke out for the third consecutive night in northern suburbs of Paris on Tuesday, April 21, following the police-involved injury of a motorcyclist on Saturday, local media reported. This video, captured from a tower block in the Puteaux district, shows fireworks going off along Pablo Picasso Avenue in neighboring Nanterre. Vehicles were also set alight in the area, reports said. The demonstrations began after a motorcyclist struck the open door of an unmarked police car in Villeneuve-la-Garenne on Saturday. Witnesses claimed the police officer opened the door in the bike’s path on purpose, an allegation police denied. In a video message from his hospital bed posted Tuesday, the 30-year-old motorcyclist injured in the Saturday collision urged calm and asked those protesting to stay home.
