Thomas Carr was born in Birmingham, but moved to north Devon as a child after being adopted. He is now chef owner of his eponymous restaurant at the Olive Room in Ilfracombe, which has held a Michelin star for two years. Carr came to the role after working under famed Cornwall chef Nathan Outlaw, initially starting as sous chef at his Seafood and Grill Restaurant, before being appointed head chef at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw just a year later. Carr was in the role when the restaurant was awarded its second Michelin star.
