Sky News host Paul Murray says New Zealanders are set to experience "major changes with their lock downs" which will see the nation move "back to more normal" life shortly as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

New Zealand will ease coronavirus restrictions next week, with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declaring the country stopped “a wave of devastation.”

From midnight next Monday, the country will move from the current stringent stage four lockdown to stage three.

Level three restrictions including ongoing border controls, reduced domestic travel, and the continued closures of retail and hospitality, but schools and many other businesses will be allowed to re-open provided they can maintain social distancing practices.

Mr Murray said the changes represent the country "not going back to full normal" but in some sense moving "back to more normal".
