Stephen McNeil, premier of Nova Scotia, urged people to reach out to family and loved ones on April 19, a day he called “devastating” following a mass shooting in which at least 16 people were killed. Royal Canadian Mounted Police named 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman as the suspect in the killings. Wortman was killed in an engagement with police at a gas station in Enfield. In a press conference later on Sunday, McNeil said, “It’s okay to be sad. It’s okay to be angry. And it’s also okay to feel helpless. But what’s not okay is to bear all those feelings alone. You have to reach out, to a loved one, to a neighbor, to a friend.” McNeil gave details of a helpline and said what had happened was “not who we are.” Credit: Stephen McNeil via Storyful
