Drivers in Annapolis, Maryland created gridlock and slammed their horns to protest coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions in the state, a video shows. Social media users based in Annapolis posted multiple videos showing vehicles driving through the city while honking their horns, with some expressing irritation at the loud noise on a Saturday morning. This footage shows a series of vehicles lined up bumper to bumper. The Baltimore Sun reported that the protesters held signs out their car windows, and offered comments at a distance to abide by social distancing rules designed to slow the spread of COVID-19. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said he understood that people were anxious to have business return to normal but it must be done in a “safe manner.” The protest follows on from days of similar demonstrations in multiple states, including Michigan and Minnesota, where hundreds of people gathered, at times in apparent breach of social distancing guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
