Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have said they will begin using ‘smart helmets’ equipped with thermal cameras to detect people’s body temperatures as part of measures to slow the spread of coronavirus, state news agency WAM reported. The new technology was introduced as the country’s lockdown was due to expire on April 18. The helmets would make “an alert sound and issue audio warnings if they detect a temperature rise above the normal range,” WAM reported. As of April 16, UAE has 5,365 confirmed cases of the virus and 33 deaths. Credit: Dubai Police via Storyful
