Sky News host Chris Smith says Prime Minister Scott Morrison “has got his poker face on” but “has clearly signaled that the worst is over” with the deadly coronavirus pandemic in Australia.

On Thursday, the prime minister, discussing “the road out” of coronavirus in the nation, said there are “no plans” to change the current lockdown measures for at least another four weeks.

Delivering an update in Canberra on Thursday, Mr Morrison said restrictions would only be eased if Australia met three key conditions: increased testing, better contact tracing, and the ability to lock down localised areas in cases of outbreaks.

My Smith said the prime minister has “dug a distinct signpost into the ground on Australia's battle against the COVID-19”.

“He clearly signaled that the worst is over, without daring to say those words, and we need to rebuild towards what we knew as normal”.

“He's got the poker face on, but that's a PM who is almost busting with glee. busting to tell us how close we're getting to nail this virus, better than any nation on earth”.
