Lonely Easter Bunny Sings in New Orleans’ Empty French Quarter

about 4 years in news

A lonesome Easter parade was caught on camera in New Orleans on Friday, April 10, showing Peter Cottontail in a face mask sabering champagne bottles in an eerily quiet French Quarter, as coronavirus restrictions kept Louisiana residents indoors. Brennan’s Restaurant shared this video of the solitary rabbit singing a parody of the nursery rhyme ‘Peter Cottontail’ with lyrics substituted to include lines about quarantine. The bunny usually visits Brennan’s during the restaurant’s popular Easter Sunday brunch and ceremoniously opens champagne with a saber. This year, the bunny popped champagne on the abandoned Royal Street while wearing a face mask. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards issued a stay-at-home order on March 23. as the state experienced an outbreak of the new coronavirus, COVID-19. As of April 14, Louisiana had reported 21,016 cases of coronavirus and 884 deaths. Credit: Brennan’s Restaurant via Storyful
