Sky News host Chris Kenny has applauded the work done by Education Minister Dan Tehan saying, “he is doing what is best for the kids, the schools and society”.

On Thursday, Mr Tehan had warned independent schools must reopen for term two or risk having their funding cut by the federal government.

The government's Medical Expert panel has assured the community it is safe to send their children to school, but many parents have chosen to keep their children at home.

“I've been hot on this schooling issue for weeks as you know,” Mr Kenny said.

Mr Kenny said, “well done Dan Tehan” for his Thursday announcement.

“He is saying they must be open for students whose parents want them to attend".
