Govt application of social distancing restrictions ‘smacks of double standards’

According to NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham, social distancing regulations have been inconsistently applied by the government across a broad range of industries.

Mr Latham said “if people have got to stay at home and they can’t go for a drive or sit on a park bench without some valid reason… why is it okay for the NRL to talk about reopening their contact sport?”

“Why is it okay in terms of infection containment to have schools open where teachers are next to each other and school kids wouldn’t have to do any social distancing”.

“Why is it okay for backpackers to be picking fruit in country areas when we know their social distancing has been appalling?”

“How hard is it to have consistency?”

Mr Latham said if any social contact must be avoided in order to control the spread of the coronavirus, these other places should not be receiving a “leave pass”.

Mr Latham said he couldn’t “follow the logic” concerning coronavirus social distancing restrictions.
