Former US presidential candidate Marianne Williamson says “we have some serious anti-democratic forces at work within our political system”.

“I say anti-democratic in the sense that anything that obstructs the ability of the voter to really hear all of the candidates,” Ms Williamson told Sky News.

“There was this rush to narrow the field”.

“So what I experienced was there are a lot of forces that make it very, very hard for someone who’s not already in the club to make it in.

“I’ve had a year in the belly of that beast, but it did not leave me cynical.

“It left me even more convinced of the importance of democracy.”
