‘Accusations of anti chinese racism’ are driven by ‘political opportunists’

about 4 years in heraldsun

Former Victorian Liberal Party President Michael Kroger says the decision to call out a Liberal politician for racism after he commented on the lack of hygiene in Chinese wet markets, did not earn his Labor accusers any "brownie points".

According to Mr Kroger, an article written very recently explained how Asian wet markets "have bats, dogs, snakes and lizards all in together, all cut up with the same knife with blood and faeces everywhere”.

Mr Kroger said despite poor hygiene standards in wet markets being common knowledge, a Liberal politician Jason Wood was condemned as "a racist" by two Labor politicians after he uploaded a post describing wet market practices as "disgusting".

Mr Kroger said “these days the word racist has lost its meaning completely”.

Sky News host Paul Murray said the “political opportunism” was rife among Labor politicians who want “to pretend there are racists around every corner”.
