Government’s ‘socialist’s dream’ packages need to be wound back ‘hard and fast’

about 4 years in news

The government's recent $1.6 billion dollars subsidy of childcare for millions of Australian families is "the socialist's dream," but the growing concern is whether these measures can be reversed says Advance Australia Director Liz Storer.

As coronavirus takes a hold across Australia, the federal government has announced a plethora of economic and healthcare packages to lift the burden off Australian families and businesses.

Thursday's childcare package announcement comes only days after the government announced a historic $130 billion wage subsidy plan, which adds to the billions of dollars spent to fight the potentially disastrous economic effects of the virus.

Ms Storer said even GetUp - the typically far-left wing campaign organisation - has been praising the government's announcements, specifically the decision to waive rent for those who can't pay, "doubling Newstart, and now free day care".

She told Sky News host Chris Smith there is of course no mention of the fact "we had to put our nation into a World War II-sized deficit to pull this off".

"We need to buckle up big time for when this is over, to be sure to peel back these measures hard and fast".
