New York to expect more COVID 19 cases

about 4 years in news

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called for a nation-wide buying consortium for purchasing medical supplies as he says the price of ventilators has risen from $40,000 to $73,000 since the outbreak of coronavirus.

The motion came as US President Donald Trump considered quarantining virus hot spots within America, however Mr Cuomo said he had not entered into any such conversations with the president.

New York has been the hardest hit state in the US with more than 52,000 cases of the virus confirmed and 728 deaths.

A US military ship is expected to arrive in New York on Monday and will provide an extra 1,000 beds while a large convention centre will also be set-up and provide another 1,000 beds in an effort to alleviate pressure on the state’s already overwhelmed hospitals.
