West Shore RCMP have released surveillance footage of a suspect in a January incident where a Good Samaritan was punched after trying to intervene in an assault on a woman.

The Jan. 17 assault occurred in the parking lot at Princess Auto.

Police said they were contacted about 8:30 p.m. by a witness who had seen a male and a female arguing outside the 1037 Langford Parkway business.

The witness saw the male physically assault the female and tried to intervene, but was punched several times and sustained head injuries.

The surveillance footage released by police shows a suspect running away after the incident.

“Both the male suspect and female victim left the area prior to police attendance,” West Shore RCMP Const. Nancy Saggar said. “Not only do we have a Good Samaritan who was injured in this incident, but we also have a female victim who did not come forward and we are worried about her safety.”

The suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, six feet tall and 180 pounds with a slim build and light-coloured facial hair. He was wearing a black-leather, bomber-style jacket with a black shirt that had a logo of a skull and crossbones, along with jeans and black runners.

The victim is described as white, five-foot-11 and about 200 pounds with straight, long, brown hair parted in the middle. She was wearing a fur trench coat, a brown tuque and high-knee boots.
