London Supermarket Shelves Empty as Panic Buying Continues

Supermarket chains in the UK were publishing coronavirus-related measures to curb bulk buying on March 19 as large numbers of people continued to rush to stores. Twitter user Felix Moritz recorded the scene at the Sainsbury’s store in Crystal Palace, London, on Wednesday, March 18. The footage shows almost all the shelves empty. A coronavirus bill went before the UK Parliament on March 19, while local news reports cited government sources as saying there was “zero prospect” of a London lockdown restricting movement.
