A clock built almost 150 years ago that hangs in the office of Utah Governor Spencer Cox wound itself during an earthquake in the Salt Lake City area on the morning of March 18, the governor said on Twitter. “This clock in my office was built when Abraham Lincoln was president in 1861,” Cox tweeted. “It’s still functional, but we haven’t wound it in over a year. Somehow it wound itself during the earthquake this morning,” he wrote. The 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck shortly after 7 am local time, with its epicenter at Magna, west of Salt Lake City. Though the Utah Division of Emergency Management said it was the biggest earthquake in the state since 1992, no major damage had been reported at the time of writing.
