‘Truckies to solve the problem of empty shopping aisles’ Pauline Hanson

One National leader Pauline Hanson says “consideration towards other people” should be encouraged when buying goods such as toilet paper and sanitiser at the shops. She said that “fear” which had “been beat up by the media” was driving the clearing of shelves in food stores. “The more people see the shelves in the shops are bare, the more they are going to panic,” Ms Hanson told Sky News host Chris Kenny. Ms Hanson said, “we need to ensure the truckies can do their job and get the supplies to the stores” to help dial down the shopping panic. In NSW, truck drivers can only work for a maximum of 12 hours within any 24 hour period. Ms Hanson said the 12 hour rest block should be reduced to an “eight hour rest block” which would allow truck drivers to work for 14 hours during this period where the nation is dealing with the coronavirus and help keep stores better stocked with produce.
