People are being ‘put to the test and grossly failing’

Broadcaster Justin Smith says the coronavirus crisis is putting people to the test and some "are grossly failing.”

The comments come after supermarket chains Woolworths and Coles are putting in place senior-only shopping hours to ensure the elderly and the vulnerable have access to in-demand household goods like toilet paper and sanitary wipes.

Mr Smith told Sky News host Chris Kenny “the way that people have been hoarding food and the selfishness has been extraordinary”.

“We have been through tough times in the past, but we wouldn’t have seen people running into supermarkets, grabbing what they can and only thinking of themselves… It’s a real shame that we have been put to the test and we have failed,” he said.
