A proposal to capture flood waters from the Fitzroy River that feeds the Geike Gorge for under-utilised pastoral stations across the Kimberley would create indigenous jobs and give Native Title holders a third share for their own projects but it has also evoked fears among some elders of a Murray-Darling style environmental catastrophe.
