Cuomo Mimics Irish Accent as He Discusses Possibility of St Patrick’s Day Parade Cancellation

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York Post reporter Bernadette Hogan mimicked Irish accents they discussed the possible cancellation of New York City’s St Patrick’s Day parade during a press conference about the novel coronavirus on March 11. As Hogan asked her first question, Cuomo interrupted her in an Irish brogue, and Hogan quickly followed suit. “Governor, what kind of authority do you have, on March 17, to close down the New York City St Patrick’s Day parade?” Hogan asked. “Well, I’m authorized, you know, by St Patrick, that’s who! Oh yes – I have the highest authorization, sure,” Cuomo joked. “Or maybe I’ll just ask the archbishop, ‘What do you think?’” he continued. Cuomo then switched back to his real accent, and to the question asked of him, telling Hogan he would be speaking to parade organizers and those involved “and see what they say.” Credit: Gov Andrew Cuomo via Storyful
