Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says “as opposed to the fires, the prime minister has handled (coronavirus) quite well,” which is why the opposition is not challenging him on the issue.

The opposition consistently challenged the government on the sports rorts scandal during Question Time in parliament on Tuesday, but refrained from asking coronavirus-based questions.

Mr Clennell told Sky News host Peta Credlin if the opposition “took the government on politically on the coronavirus” as a result it would be accused of trying to “turn that disaster or crisis into a political football”.

“Often you can’t win as an opposition,” he said.

“Essentially they want to be on the same page as the government on coronavirus”.
