New South Wales health authorities believe two patients have contracted coronavirus via person-to-person contact for the first time in Australia. NSW health minister Brad Hazzard confirmed on Monday there are now three new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to nine in the state. One woman is believed to have contracted the novel coronavirus from her brother who recently travelled to Iran, while a 53-year-old health worker is thought to have contracted it while treating a patient. Mr Hazard conceded the situation is “concerning” for health authorities. The number of people who have contracted the disease has exceeded 90,000 worldwide, with 3,000 deaths. Over 90 per cent of the fatalities have been recorded in China, as the government struggles to contain the virus. The World Health Organisation said on Sunday that the death rate coronavirus appears to be between two and five per cent. Indonesia President Joko Widodo has today confirmed two Indonesians have also tested positive to the disease.
