Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher has provided Sky News with an update on the National Broadband Network, saying “we are due to have the rollout complete this year”. “NBN is about getting broadband to every corner of this massive continent,” Mr Fletcher told Sky news host Chris Smith. He said, in retrospect, “there’s a lot of design features” of the network, which “we would not have put in place” now, as compared to when the scheme was rolled out in 2013 under the Turnbull government. "The key principle of it is bringing everybody up to the minimum level,” he said. "Once the rollout is completed, that will mean that every Australian will have the capacity to to connect to high-speed broadband".
