For Immediate Release November 5th 2017 Contact Chip Evans; chipevans7 (775) 240 1222 NGSC Calls For Gun Safety Action, Again RENO, NV – As Board members of the Nevada Gun Safety Coalition, our hearts are broken by yet another act of senseless violence. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, and the first responders whose lives were ended or forever changed in the senseless shootings at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs hours ago. As a nation, we grieve for those who involuntarily added their names to the long list of American mass murder victims. Yet again, we are reminded that we are not effectively addressing gun safety and gun violence. We’ve witnessed the horrific deaths of young children at school, gays at a nightclub, blacks in prayer, hundreds of country western music fans and now the congregation of a small town house of worship. Can we declare we’ve seen enough? One commentator this morning has already claimed that we need armed security at every church and for every sizable gathering. Is that really where we have gotten in the land of the free? The 30,000 plus Americans affected by gun violence every year cry out for more than prayer, they cry out for action. There is no one answer to this problem, there are many proven policies to reduce deaths and injuries resulting from dangerous interactions of misguided or careless people and modern weaponry. America is a “can do” nation with a problem fixing culture. It’s time to re examine the many ways we can increase gun safety, reduce gun violence and insist our elected officials and government agents re establish our Constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
