Wayne A. I. Frederick (born June 17, 1971) is a Trinidadian-born U.S. physician and academic. He was appointed president of Howard University in Washington D.C, by unanimous vote of the search committee on July 21, 2014. He served as Interim President beginning October 1, 2013, following the resignation of Sidney A. Ribeau. He previously served as provost and chief academic officer at Howard University.Frederick was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and is a scholar, surgeon, researcher and administrator. Frederick lives with sickle cell anemia, which greatly shaped his outlook on life.
