Thomas Fitzgerald (April 10, 1796March 25, 1855) was an American politician who served as a judge and state legislator in both Indiana and Michigan, and as a United States senator from Michigan. <!-- The congressional bioguide and some other sources also report that he was born in "Germantown, Herkimer County, N.Y."; however, there is currently no Germantown in Herkimer County. It might be the town of German, New York in Chenango County, which was formed in 1798 from a part of Herkimer County.
