Mathieu Eugene is the Council member for the 40th District of the New York City Council. He is a Democrat. The district includes portions of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood, Prospect Park and Prospect Lefferts Gardens in Brooklyn.Eugene is a Haitian-American, born in Cap-Haïtien in April 1954. He attended schools in Haiti, Belgium, and Mexico. He is a master and black belt in the martial art of Taekwondo.
