Kamui Kobayashi (小林 可夢偉, Kobayashi Kamui, born 13 September 1986) is a Japanese professional racing driver who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing and in the Super Formula Championship for KCMG. He also previously competed in the GP2 Series, the GP2 Asia Series (which he won), and Formula One from 2009 to 2012, and in 2014.Kobayashi was born in Amagasaki, near Kobe. His father owns a sushi restaurant. He began his career in motorsport in 1996 when he was nine years old, finishing third in his first season of karting in the SL Takarazuka Tournament Cadet Class.
