Brian Barnwell is an American politician and lawyer who is currently a member of the New York State Assembly. He represents District 30, which is made up of Maspeth and Woodside, as well as portions of Middle Village, Astoria, Sunnyside and Long Island City.A member of the Democratic Party, Barnwell a political newcomer defeated 9 term incumbent Margaret Markey, in a major upset, obtaining over 60% of the vote.Barnwell first announced in July 2015 that he would seek the District 30 seat in the Assembly.
