"If people want to shoot me down, please do. Our country has got a drug problem that is pandemic, we need to face facts that we all know someone on drugs or who abuses Alcohol, Gambling etc My reading of Politicians who give stats from highly paid consultants is a waste of money, that money can be used to educate our youth. I find people in the middle to upper class financial bracket are in denial of what their children are up to, they are worried what people will say, spare my feelings save my life. We are facing a struggle like no other and if we don't share experiences, resources and support, our children will be dying like flies. People who give stats should get out the office and see what is happening in the streets. Drugs are everywhere and does not care if you black or white, rich or poor. Drugs and Alcohol are not only a Cape Flats problem and that stigma needs to be removed. What are your children doing at trance Parties and clubs, eating hot dogs....? Every school has a dealer. We are a country that lives in denial and then wants to put a band aid on the problem. Parents phone me and say please no one must find out my kid is on drugs as it will ruin the families reputation so we don't want him at rehab or support groups so they won't be seen, what nonsense! Would you prefer to bury your child? Please South Africa's history with Aids denialists is happening again with Drug and Alcohol abuse, Substance Abuse does not discriminate and so called celebs only come out the closet and want to reform the country when they are arrested etc but meanwhile families live in constant pain and turmoil daily. It's time to stand as one no matter who you are or were you live. We need to take away the so called shame and start saving a nation wrecked by substance abuse. Parents stop covering up for your loved ones actions as it only gets worse by the day. We need to band together and be each others keeper. Our children start stealing from home for their fix as parents seldom lay charges but eventually get caught up in crime and go to prison. Our young girls and boys selling their bodies for a fix, youngsters who had potential standing at robots begging, people stealing from the companies they work for, the list can go on for days. We have corrupt policeman but we also have brilliant policeman and woman but we can't rely on them to police our homes and children. We need big business' to come on board and have campaigns like they do to save the Rhino to save our future. We need God to restore our morals, we need all Religious Groups to get more and more involved and not deny your congregation has a problem, talk straight from the Pulpit Headmasters and teachers must be observant and parents must drug test their children, find out what they doing when they sleep out and where, encourage our youth to play sport and have fun without cellphones, TV games and computers, we need to SPEAK OUT without worrying what people think!
