Alex Chiasson (French pronunciation: [ˈalɛks ˈʃjasɔ̃], born October 1, 1990) is a Canadian ice hockey forward who is currently an unrestricted free agent who most recently played for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL).Born in Montreal, Quebec and raised in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Chiasson grew up cheering for the Montreal Canadiens. He began skating at age 4 after his sister suggested that he start. After his sophomore year of high school, he left Quebec to study at Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York. Although Chiasson did not speak English until he moved to the United States, (famously knowing only the words "yes", "no", and "toaster", hence his nickname of "Toaster") he has since become fluent.
