Abel Fernando Moreira Ferreira (born 22 December 1978 in Penafiel), known simply as Abel, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a right back, and the current manager of S.C. Braga.After emerging through hometown club F.C. Penafiel's youth ranks, Abel developed while at Vitória de Guimarães where he made his Primeira Liga debuts, then switched to another Minho club for the 2004–05 season, S.C. Braga.In January 2006 Abel transferred to Sporting Clube de Portugal, in a two-way loan deal involving Wender, a Brazilian who already had represented the northerners.
