Le’Veon Bell appears destined for free agency in 2019, and he could sit out half this season

The Pittsburgh Steelers and running back Le'Veon Bell had until 4 p.m. Eastern on Monday to work out a new contract. But the deadline came and went, and so Bell will play the season under his franchise-tagged salary of about $14.544 million, and then almost certainly will become an unrestricted free agent entering the 2019 season.
