Readers respond to an article by Barney Ronay on Team GB and elitism in sportThere is certainly much to agree with in Barney Ronay’s piece (Do not adjust your reality: how slick Team GB played its part in dividing Britain, 10 August). However, we should welcome the many successes of Team GB over the last quarter of a century (largely fuelled of course by the National Lottery) and not throw away the many positive aspects of what has been achieved.The clear problem here is that this elite-level sporting success has not been followed up during the same period with the equivalent and necessary levels of investment in grassroots sport at every level.
