‘Unacceptable violation’ Trudeau blasts Indian government’s alleged assassination
over 2 years in news
India has rejected allegations by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the Indian government was behind the assassination of a Sikh leader as negotiations between the two countries hit rock bottom.
The man, a Canadian citizen, was shot dead in June outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara temple in British Columbia.
Mr Trudeau labelled the involvement of an overseas government in killing a Canadian citizen on sovereign soil as an “unacceptable violation”.
The Indian government has rejected the allegations as unsubstantiated, absurd and motivated.
Canada remains the largest home for the Sikhs outside India despite a now-strained relationship.
