JobKeeper safeguard not needed as workers are in ‘great demand’

The risk of employees being let go when not safeguarded by JobKeeper is “not as big” because workers are in “great demand”, according to business columnist Terry McCrann.

Mr McCrann told Sky News host Peta Credlin the most important aspect of JobKeeper “is keeping that link between the employer and the employee".

“It’s probably not as big a risk now as it looked to be at the start of all this, because workers are in such great demand,” Mr McCrann said.

“Given the fact we can’t bring in the skills under the visa program or the generalised population through the general migration program.

“The question is really whether it’s going to hurt that link between the employee and the worker.”
