Long lines of customers were reported in front of a Costco supermarket in Melbourne on August 2 after the state announced it was tightening COVID-19 restrictions. Videos posted to Facebook by Lee Nguyen show long lines of people inside and outside the store in Melbourne’s Docklands. Lee told Storyful they were lucky to get in as lines were backed inside. Woolworths supermarkets announced purchasing limits on goods in light of the new restrictions, according to reports. The new restrictions included an 8 pm to 5 am curfew, a restriction on travel for shopping or exercise outside of a five-kilometre radius from the person’s home, and a ban on weddings from Thursday, July 6. There were 671 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state on August 1 and 123 people had died from the virus by August 2, according to state health authorities. Credit: Lee Nguyen via Storyful
