The complete lockdown of nine public housing towers is ‘deeply disturbing’

The decision to lockdown approximately 3,000 Victorians in public housing accommodation “should be a deeply disturbing situation for every Australian” according to Victorian Liberal MP Bernie Finn.

As five million residents of Melbourne suburbs prepare to return to stage three lockdown restrictions, nine public housing towers have been subjected to complete lockdown restrictions where they are not allowed to leave their homes for any reason.

Mr Finn said Premier Andrews called a press conference, announced he was "locking up" 3,000 people and without warning or consultation sent the police in to enforce his orders.

“There was no communication with them … and all of a sudden they were locked up for no reason at all,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
