There is ‘no easy victory’ for Albanese and Labor

almost 4 years in news

The Australian’s Dennis Shanahan says Prime Minister Scott Morrison won't concede the Eden-Monaro by-election result to Labor in order to "damage that impact of a win".

The election went down to the wire, with postal votes propelling Labor candidate Kristy McBain to victory, although the Liberals have not conceded yet as the Australian Electoral Commission is continuing to count ballots.

Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Peta Credlin the Opposition leader Anthony Albanese is "spinning like a top on these results" however the results actually showcase how the Labor Party is losing its base support.

"There is no doubt that on these results Anthony Albanese's Labor Party has suffered a big fall in primary vote".
