Australia experiencing better than expected economic recovery

Australia's jobs market is gradually recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic with the latest data from the ABS showing about 30 per cent of people who lost their jobs have returned to work.

The hospitality sector bounced back the quickest due to the reopening of venues, cafes and restaurants.

CoreLogic released its national property value report on Wednesday which showed prices fell 0.7 per cent in June.

Melbourne dropped 1.1 per cent, followed by Sydney which well 0.8 per cent.

Despite a slight drop in values, house sales continued to improve by 29.5 per cent.

On Friday, the ABS released its retail sale figures for May revealing retail turnover jumped 16.9 per cent.
