Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has gone for the sensible approach by opening her borders to all states and territories except Victoria, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

Ms Palaszczuk announced on Tuesday Queensland will be open to everyone but Victoria from July 10.

“My number one concern is to protect Queenslanders and Queensland families,” she said.

“That's what you support me to do and that is what I wake up every single day, wanting to ensure I do the best for this state.

"These decisions have not been taken lightly. They have been given careful consideration from the Chief Health Officer and from government.

"We believe we have the balance right.”

People will be able to apply for a border pass on July 10 if they sign a declaration that they have not visited Victoria in a 14-day window.

Those who give false information can be fined up to $4000.

“What we have here now is what you might call a Goldilocks solution to the problem and that it’s just right,” Mr Clennell said.

“Not too hot and not too cold.

“You got a situation where Victoria it’s just too hot to let them in, big fines there if you don’t declare you’ve been to Victoria.

“But for other states you are going to kill the tourism if you didn’t allow them in.”
