‘Rent a Crowd’ have no idea about the ‘real issues’ facing Indigenous Australians

Indigenous commentator Dr Anthony Dillon has told Sky News the Black Lives Matter protesters across Australia are “rent-a-crowd” because the majority of the demonstrators would not know “what the real issues are facing aboriginal people”.

Across major Australian cities on the weekend, tens of thousands of people marched to protest against Indigenous deaths in custody while also standing in solidarity with the death of unarmed African-American man George Floyd.

Dr Dillon said the protesters clearly “latched on to what’s happened in the states,” and were “fighting the wrong fight”.

He told Sky News host Paul Murray if the protesters are going to talk about lives “let’s talk about all black lives that have died including the many that have died at the hands of other aboriginal people”.

“Everyone of the protesters knows where the next meal is coming from and they would have had a safe home to sleep in that night, and that’s what we want for Aboriginal people in the remote areas”.
